Blue Flag, Campania is on the podium with 18 award-winning beaches, including Sorrento
The number of Blue Flags assigned to the beaches that have stood out for the cleanliness of the water and the high quality of the services offered to bathers is growing in Italy. If last year the winners were 163, this year have risen to 175, of which 18 for Campania that wins the third place after Liguria (first) and Tuscany (second).
The beaches of the Amalfi Coast, like Positano, retain the prestige of the blue flag also for 2018, but to allow the conquest of the podium for the Campania region are the three new entries: Sorrento, Piano di Sorrento and Ispani.
The Blue Flag, delivered a few days ago to the mayor Giuseppe Cuomo, accompanied by the municipal councilor Luigi Di Prisco, always in the forefront for the respect and protection of the environment and the sea in particular, is the recognition of the validity of the initiatives promoted by the Municipality of Sorrento for the reclamation of the seabed and the coast, as well as the confirmation of the need for a program of awareness campaigns that, especially during the summer season, aim to encourage bathers to practice healthy habits for the environment.
The result generates great enthusiasm also at the regional level, rewarding the great action undertaken by the Campania Region that has focused everything on the treatment plants, putting back into operation and strengthening the existing ones and starting the work to make new ones.
