Boat rental company in the Gulf of Naples and Salerno at risk. The suspension of the order by the TAR brings the clear even on the coasts of Sorrento

Noleggio Barche - boat rental

Good news for all the operators in the field of the chartering of the Gulf of Naples and Salerno, the nautical charter war, at least for the moment, has been won, no obligation of Capo Barca for the next summer season.

The battle began on 19 June with a circular of the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport and the subsequent order of the Port Authorities of Naples, Castellammare di Stabia, Capri, and in general the gulfs of Naples and Salerno, which had introduced a new provision – completely ignored in the rest of Italy – on the basis of which it was no longer enough to have a person with a boat license at the controls, but it became compulsory to recruit a Capobarca, a professional figure until now required exclusively on commercial and non-commercial vessels on board of simple boats. The official motivation? “Security reasons, with the aim of safeguarding human life at sea”.

The provision posed a problem in terms of employment, since about 90 percent of the current managers on board do not have this title and in fact the answer was not long in coming. Over seventy charter companies, mainly from the Sorrento area, rebelled against the new provisions and, last December, filed appeals to the TAR of Lazio and the Campania TAR, claiming the illegitimacy of the provision.

For the boat rental companies have been months spent with bated breath, but yesterday, to inaugurate the arrival of spring that brings us to a step from the beginning of the 2018 summer season, the Municipality of Sorrento has circulated a press release in the which announces the suspension by the TAR of the ordinance that provides for the obligation of the Head Boat also for small boats.

This is a victory that saves many jobs, just think that only in the Sorrento coast have been months at risk over one thousand people.
In short, everything is fine that ends well. For next summer, our tourists can continue to rent our boats to spend unforgettable days between the waters of the Sorrento peninsula and the Amalfi coast.
